We have a strict No Pets Policy on board. However, trained service animals are permitted. Handlers are required to maintain control of their service animal at all times and must sign our Service Animal Handler Acknowledgement of Responsibility and Liability Waiver before boarding. This waiver clarifies that the handler is fully responsible for the care, supervision, and any damages caused by their service animal.
Grand Island offers the only protection from the open water of Lake Superior. When storms would arise, ships would and still seek shelter in Munising Bay. Getting to the safety was a huge challenge with old navigation techniques, rock reefs and sand bars that seem to come out of nowhere. There are 73 Shipwrecks that have been found in the area of Grand Island and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There are many more that are still missing.
YES! Sometimes the viewing is at its best during cloudy days if you can believe that. When it’s overcast, the natural light is evenly distributed throughout the water. On sunny days our drifting boat can cast unwanted shadows and in that event the captain works a little to angle the drift to even out the light.
